ya, they do, this was based off of i0n1cs work I believe he gave out the plans at a talk titled iOS Kernel Explotation (I think)  I remember reading the slides there.
Google. If its based off of a lecture by i0n1c, just look for that.

The guide is incomplete. The first part is important but it doesn't work. Gnd is not explained
You don't need Gnd.

Ok, and 3.3v? to which pins goes the resistance of 470kohm? the iphone does not recognize the podbreakout 1.5. It says it's not compatible.

The tutorial fully explains it. You need to boot your iOS device into DEBUG mode. Google will help you...

ok i googled, and I have a problem:
I have redsn0w 0.9.6rc13b and if I set this:

open ~/Desktop/redsn0w.app --args -j -i debug=0x9 kdp_match_name=serial ~/Desktop/iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw

into boot-ipt4.command, redsnow doesn't open, if i delete "debug=0x9 kdp_match_name=serial" , it opens.. but i must set this boot arg. Can you help me? Thanks

ok i tried 28 versions of redsnow, but i can't do it because on the iphone 3g there's not tethered boot, so i need to patch the kernelcache.  Ginger can you say me how to do it with ida? here's the image:

I'm really confused why we would need this tutorial but whatever it's still cool :) Nice job.

Kernel debugging outputs to the serial console, which you can only access if you have a serial connection, resulting in the need for a serial cable.

Hello, I have an iPhone 3G with iPhone OS 4.2.1, I have the serial cable (built) to use it with SerialKDPProxy, but the only problem I have is to set the boot-args  "-v debug = 0x9 ".
I tried it with redsn0w executable and from the terminal, but I've understand that the iPhone 3G does not have the exploit limera1n and therefore it can not boot tethered.
I tried by putting it in recovery mode and using the utility called iRecovery (for windows), to set them and then use greenpois0n, but no luck.
Now the only alternative that remains is to set them by creating a custom kernel. So I decrypted the kernelcache and opened it with IDA Pro. Now I do not know what to do.
Please can you tell me how I should do, what should I edit and how to save the file patched? Or is there another alternative? Thanks
