Here's the evidence about how IPv4 died: overloaded by statal IP. I have always considered IP and DNS a field of unmerited marketing.

I bought a couple DVDs on some stuff I thought would be of benefit to iNinjas. This was a text file on a DVD with the cheesy name "Hacker wifi". And seeing as it is a retail resource I figured that the text file would most likely be scarce. Even if it were readily available, I thought that the list would be a great help. Glad you appreciate it and thanks for the +1 to those who did. ;)

I couldn't say. I found this list and it seems legit enough to discourage me to test. Congrats though on ignoring all warnings. And please anyone reading this now, do not think this means those IPs aren't the real deal. So many other IPs to play with, just leave these.

Is it really illegal to just nmap an ip or ping it? It seems a little....extreme.

It depends is it a random website or are you checking out the government most stuff on here is the government and they would arrest you for an accidental step onto their property so in a way it can bring legal matters in

This is exactly what I thougt. Isnt this information public if it requires no intrusion? Why is obtaining this information illegal?

It's not definitely illegal, but playing in those areas could result in unwanted attention from Gov etc. And depending on the IP you never know what inqueries the Big Boys might make. As stated, this is a warning and not a definitive list with definitive results. We're just trying to do what we can to look out for your best interests. Thats all
