Help Find A Good Phone
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:22:49 pm »
I need help finding a new phone for meh. I need a phone that has a keyboard, so a smartphone preferably. What kind of phone can I use data and the wifi at my house to download things to? I really like the android and IPhone, but data is a kick in the balls when the bill comes. Also, what is a really cheap plan I can get? Plus why can't I get the iPhone 4S without data? This is really strange to request from the community. The phone itself can cost anything... Less than $500....

So basically, what is a better phone, IPhone or Android, and can a phone use my house WiFi for free ?

EDIT:: Should have said i have verizon.

Well I would lean towards a android with a straight talk plan it's about $45 a month with unlimited data. I would get the android do to you allready have a iPod (I think) and an iPhone is basically the same thing with a phone and an android has a more open source platform to do different things and it would be cool to have a android specialist on the forum :)
<%a12danrulz> Idk, but doing a DoS from an apple device is like fighting a bear with a plastic spork

I have an unlimited data plan with AT&T, but I was grandfathered in. If you get a smart phone you have to have a data plan. All smart phones should be able to use your home WiFi.  From what I understand, Android is more open source than iOS. But there are few hack tools that can be used on android. It will just be a matter of time though till this is all corrected. I personally like the iPhones. But I'm used to it, because it's the first real smart phones I've ever used. I'm sure others can inform you better than I can, as to which would be the best choice.

There is no a "best phone". You just buy the phone that the its characteristics adapt to you necesities.
The Android is much more open source, but it depends of what kinda of android you buy it is better o worse. The android market its quite worse than the apo store(just my opinion), but android is compatible with adobe flash.

The Iphone has a very good camera and very goood screen. All the apps are quite interesting. If you jailbreak it you can do nearly evrything you can do with an android

Just my opinion but i think a jailbreaked iphone is better than any android phone. But the good of android is cheaper. With all this data you can choose.

Thanks a lot everyone. I'm under the impression that IPhone is only good when jailbroken, while the android is better than a non-jailbroken but worse than a jailbrojen iPhone. Is this true? I would want to wait on someone so I could have the good stufz, but just to have then all the time.

Well you can root (jailbreak) Android devices also. But there is more out there for iPhones right now. But I believe that Android will be catching up soon.

This is consistant with my experience.  The biggest problem with android is the fragmentation, each phone is a little different.

Well AT&T no longer has unlimited data plans. The only company that offers true unlimited is Sprint. And where I live Sprint isn't a good choice. When I'm out of town and have no WiFi connection I use a lot of data. When I do that AT&T throttles my speed. Since they are starting to get away from real customer service. I would suggest to anyone getting a new phone plan in my area (Oklahoma) to go with Verizon. They are more customer oriented and they are getting more 4G towers up all the time. This is all just my opinion though. But if I were looking to a new phone provider, Verizon would be it.

AT&T is just plain terrible. Horrible customer service, bad reception. I was up in Grand Haven (Michigan, which is where I live) and I was away from T-Mobile (which is what I have my phone on) so it connected me to AT&T for the time being, all I can say: AT&T. Is. Terrible.

Verizon or Sprint though, you could also unlock an iPhone for T-Mobile too, if you really desired.
