MK802 Android Mini PC
« on: June 04, 2012, 08:15:04 am »
Hey, I found this awhile ago. It's a new computer that's the size of a USB!
The MK802 has between 512mb and 1gb RAM, with 4 GB ROM. Your able to insert Mirco SD cards holding up to 32 gb. The MK802 has an AllWinner A10 Processor. 1080p (HD) video, with HDMI port and USB 2.0 Port, this is originally used to run as an Android TV, therefore it has Android pre-installed on it. So for Android lovers, here you go. Other wise because of the A10 processor you can load Linux on to the MK802 through the Micro SD card. (I'm assuming you could just partition the ROM and use Linux), with that said once mine is shipped to me I will be installing the Ubuntu Server on to it. I'll let you know how that goes.
Oh an I forgot the BEST part! The MK802 is $65(512MB RAM) and $82(1GB RAM), these prices will change. The only way to purchase this product is straight through China on AliExpress.com .

If you do decide to get one, post and tell me what you think.

Just have a server for my friend and mine own website, website hosts are pretty bad unless you pay someone.
I also plan to expand on to it an external harddrive and use it as my personal "cloud".

Hey Noize, did you get that MK802?
Is it possible to install an Ubuntu 12.04 Server in it?

It does run Ubuntu on it, and yes it has a wireless car; sadly I haven't been able to get the MK802 because of money issues. I'm hoping by the end of the year to have one on order(waiting for a possible hardware update for 2gb ram)

It'd be nice to get this running like a wifi-pineapple. Ive been trying to figure out how get it to login automatically (for some reason disabling it in account settings doesn't disable it) AND remote desktop viewer to start automatically. I'm trying cut out the need for a tv period and use my iPhone. I got my mk802+ a couple weeks ago for 39.99 + 5.99 for shipping. It was about a 2 1/2 week wait. Its not bad all, I have a '02 or '03 Dell Dimension 4300 and it runs a little faster then it. Be sure to hit up the RikoMagic and Miniand forums for the latest news, tips and tricks!

Pineapple?
Basically it fakes being a wifi access point that someone has already connected to so that it can request the password for that access point and steal it.
