Open ssh on LAN
« on: September 17, 2012, 01:09:45 am »
At my school, there are tons of kids that use the schools wifi from their iPhones,iPads, and iPod touches. if I take my netbook and use an ssh tool on the wifi and they have open ssh installed, could I run commands on them if I know their password? And if so what commands could I use to mess with people? Thanks for any responses :)

Yes it is entirely possible. However, I don't know how many people have open ssh installed. If they did have it installed, then buy fing from the app store to find the local ip addresses of all the devices connected to the router. Also u can arpsp00f it with ipwn and shutoff the wifi!

I use iNet pro and all i do is simply scan the network then scan the idevices connected for open ports. If port 22 is open that means ssh is open and now all you need is the password

Instead of being a dickhead to other people, why not use your knowledge and skills for good?
Scan the network, find people with jailbroken iDevices, openssh running, that have not changed their default password from 'alpine', and help them.

Show them that you have access to their phone, but you want to help them fix it
If I help you or you appreciate my work, clicking that +1 button is the best thanks I could get.

To scan for open ports in inet click on the host then hit the port scan button.

Yeah, nobody likes hackers that are "jerks"

You will get more respect showing people how easily they can be attacked, but not attack them, then showing them how to fix it.

People will appreciate you as someone who knows tech, and as someone they should not mess with.

Save the attacks for those jerks that try and mess with you. Teach them lessons

Dont worry i only have done it once to my roommate and it was to show him what could possibly be done cuz he had never jailbroken before. And now everytime he restores and rejailbreaks the first thing he does is make sure he changes his password lol

+1
I like it!! It is to easy to take the low road. Its always better to help someone, rather than ruin their day. I usually scan networks where ever I go. I have yet to find someone with an open 22 port on their idevice. Maybe there aren't that many Jailbreakers around OKC. It's kind of disappointing actually.

No, ssh runs in the background. There is no foreground interface to it, short of opening a mobile terminal type program and running shell commands to see who was connected
