I read on some site (can't remember) not to install the factory drivers for your wireless USB, when using it to test the security of wlan.Should I find drivers for the model of my device to use with backtrack 5.

You would need to use ndiswrapper to port the driver for your adapter from Windows to Linux. Or you could just buy an Alfa. I highly recommend the Alfa, I have the AWUS036H and I haven't regreted it for a second.
