NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York City musician used a combination of technology, seduction, a hammer and a bribe to reclaim his missing iPhone from a confused crook.

Jazz trombonist Nadav Nirenberg (nah-DAHV' NEE'-run-berg) says he left the phone in a livery cab on New Year's Eve. The next morning, the 27-year-old learned via email that someone was sending messages to women using a dating app on the phone.

Nirenberg logged on to the service and offered the man a date - posing as a woman. He even posted a picture of a pretty girl.

When the culprit arrived at Nirenberg's Brooklyn apartment building with wine, the musician greeted him with a $20 bill while holding a hammer - just in case.

The thief handed him the iPhone and left without a word.

This is great :P I don't think stealing phones is a good idea. The average crook probably can't disable all location services etc

Something similar happened to me, i was at my friends house and there were like 5 other people there. I left my iPod on my friends table and we went to the store. A few hours later I went back to the table and it wasn't there, I searched everywhere for it and couldn't find it, I was sure someone had stolen it. I never saw my iPod until 2 months later. The idiot that stole it from me had given it to my friend to put music in it, and my friend showed it to me, I knew already it was mine because the ear phone jack was sticking out and when I press on my screen it makes a sound. Me and my friend confronted the theif and he immediately got red. We asked him where he got it he said his friend sold it to home for $25. We asked his friend and he said he didn't sell it to him. I just walked away with it. :D
