*Notes*
-I have only tested on 5.1.1! All prior firmwares should look up alternatives; all later firmwares should proceed with extreme caution!
-I am not responsible for messing up your device if that were to happen!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!Read the whole tutorial (it's short) before attempting the process! Post if you have any questions and know exactly what you're doing BEFORE moving forward!Ok, so here we go!
@Hotfried
So, considering I have a stuck lock button. Is there a way to stop the crashing of apps?
Here's the answer to your question!
What this will do:
- Spoof your MAC, therefore changing your UDID (
http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/UDID)
- Also allow apps and music to be played!
1:
Write down your original MAC address! BACKUP YOUR DEVICE WITH ITUNES2 (optional): I would save your SHSH blobs using iSH****. I used these to stitch it to a custom IPSW i cooked up with snowbreeze for use in this process...idk if that's necessary or what, it's just what I did.
3: open up terminal on your iDevice and run the following commands, pressing enter after each one:
su
(password, default is alpine)
nvram wifiaddr=01:23:45:67:89:ab
if you just get a return, you did it right!
of course, you change
01:23:45:67:89:ab with whatever MAC you wish to spoof to. For random MACs, go
here4: reboot your device
5: if you are prompted with an "activation required" message and have to chose your wifi and maybe a few other settings again, you're golden! if not, try it again! sometimes it takes a few tries for me too!
6: try an app store app, if it crashes, good!
7: restore your ipod to the most recent firmware OR cook up a custom sn0wbreeze firmware and go into a pwnable DFU mode using redsn0w or a similar tool to restore your iDevice
8: you will now be able to sync your device like it is brand new, and can re-jailbreak and/or restore from backup and now use your apps and music!
Post if you have any questions!
