Upcoming Untethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Will Be Compatible With A Large Number Of Devices

Jailbreak fans received some very good news today when one of the team members responsible for an upcoming untethered solution announced that almost all compatible devices will be supported.

MuscleNerd, member of the evad3rs, announced the news via Twitter today.

@unicornhacker yes, every other 6.1 device variation will be supported. All TWENTY-TWO of them (omg!). Plus atv2 if it’s out in time.

So, the following devices will be able to use the iOS 6.1 jailbreak:

▪ iPhone 3GS
▪ iPhone 4
▪ iPad 2
▪ fourth-generation iPod touch
▪ iPhone 4S
▪ iPad 3
▪ fifth-generation iPod touch
▪ iPhone 5
▪ iPad mini
▪ iPad 4

As of now, the only non-supported devices are the second- and third-generation Apple TV boxes. The second-generation box will eventually be supported, maybe even on release day. The reason for the delay is that Apple has been slow to release iOS updates specifically for that unit.

But it looks like the third-generation box is still unhackable, at least for now.

The official version of iOS 6.1 was released to the public just a little while ago. Some of the new features include Siri integration with Fandango and the ability for iTunes Match subscribers to download individual songs from iCloud.
