R.I.P. Aaron Swartz
« on: February 09, 2013, 08:06:13 am »
Aaron Swartz recently committed suicide on January 11th. It's too bad to see another rebel hacker go. He was faced with a horrible choice, serve 35 years in prision for stealing over 4 million MIT papers, or commit suicide.

He coauthored RSS at only 14
He co-founded creative commons
He also co-founded demand progress (helping to stop internet filters)
And if I remember right he was also a memeber of Harvord university tech lab.

Just a short memorial for Aaron Swartz. May he rest in peace.

Yup, sad that he thought he had only one resort left.

It really is so horrible to think about. A young man with so much potential faced with 35 years or death.

It is sad indeed. However he should have thought about what he was doing before he did it.

Agreed G-man. Just sad when people think suicide is the only option left. He had no one to blame but himself. But still.....

I don't think anyone can judge a person's options (they have their own process), but we can mourn the loss of a person.
Kind sentiment to post a thought to his passing. Thanks OneHappyTaco.
May his loved ones find comfort.
