Problem, Set Crashes for no reason
« on: February 14, 2013, 02:33:29 am »
Hey all, its my first post!

first I would like to say this is a amazing site, and I have learn a lot from the users on here, so thank you :).  Anyways, like I said in the title set crashes when I launch a exploit.  Ill explain.

So what happens is this, I downloaded set, as well as Metasploit (from your repo not cydia's default repos).
when I launch set, it starts up fine.  when I launch a payload, like a credential harvester, I type in my device's IP, then the site (facebook.com/login.php),  it says "cloning the website <site>
This could take a bit...

then BAM, it resets to the main menu.

I have tried reinstalling set and metasploit, and double checking IP and spelling of everything.  Nothing fixes the problem.  Here is the thing, I dont have Fast-track, and whenever I launch metasploit payloads on iPwn, nothing seems to work, it cant find the directories.  I am really confused at this point : /

the device I am using is an itouch, iOS 6.1(10B141).

Any words of wisdom?

Well, unfortunately, I can't help you with your problem,  however you should make an introduction topic so people can get to know you.
If I assist you please consider giving me a +1.

What device are you using? iPod touch 3gen? It sounds to me like you could be running out of RAM.

Yeah, I agree with Ironman. Try using an older version of Metasploit, it uses less RAM.

We need a screenshot of the error. If you scroll up from the main menu after it doesn't work there should be some errors or some unexpected output. We need that in order to help you.

there are some images of what’s going on.  I have the itouch 5th gen,  I ended all processes I could , then started terminal and tried it, still no luck.

maybe I am typing something wrong?

Could you post the images on the forum? People have to sign in to google to access them. Also if your on an iPod 5 it won't work because of the new processor or CPU or something breaking the tool chain and giving everyone illegal instruction 4

It's easy to fix the SET error. I used to get this all the time and I bothered me a lot. But the if you want to fix it just edit the conf file in /var/root/pentest/exploits/set make sure you edit everything and mkae sure they in ALL caps.

Yeah sorry about the pictures.  Wow so it won't work no matter what?

and Taco, do you have the 5th gen, are you able to run SET?  I feel like if iPwn can work, I could get SET to work...  I think it is possible that the error might not even have to do with SET, but rather metasploit... since it uses msf to create the payloads right?

I totally went to my college's tech service today and they were like "hi, what can I help you with?", and I explained the problem and they gave me this blank expression...  then they guy who is blind in one eye said "we can't help you with that"... but in a raspy pirate voice.  I wanna hang out with him so bad.

If it doesn't say illegal instruction 4, then that's not the error. Why would you go to the tech service about a problem with a phishing tool? They aren't for that..now you have raised their suspicion...

When SET goes to the main menu that means there is an error in the config file. Either you haven't edited the config file or one of the options is invalid.
