Handcuff failure...

So there were these crappy handcuffs that my friend had, and he left them at my other friends apartment.  When she told me she had them, I immediately slapped them on without asking if she had the key.  Turns out the release mechanism in the handcuffs was like a thin piece of metal that was nearly impossible to press down with a paper clip.  I thought you guys might like this-

You can also put a piece of thin, non-flimsy metal at the point that the notches on the rotating cuff, meet the notches on the base of the cuff. Then you can the make the cuffs tighter, make the metal go over the base notches, and retract the cuffs. It is demonstrated in this defcon video.

It works on those combination locks they make you use on your lockers at school too.

@OP so they were novelty cuffs with built in release?
