Post your specs or the specs of your dreams! (or both)
You should post:

  • Manufactorer and Model
  • HDD size
  • Ram
  • Screen size
  • Processor (# of cores and GHz)
  • Graphics Card
  • Approximate Cost

I'll start with my dream (soon to become reality :D)

  • Apple MacBook Pro 2011
  • 500 GB @5400 RPM
  • 4 GB
  • 15 inch
  • Quad core i7 2.0 GHz
  • Intel HD 3000 and AMD Radeon (automatic switching)
  • $1,799
You can use [*] to create bullet notes.
Ex:
[*]Bullet 1
[*]Bullet 2

  • Bullet 1
  • Bullet 2

Built from parts I aquired between South Africa and Europe but I'll give this a shot.
Manufacturers are many, but I'm running win7 on my Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard.
Have 6 Terras of HDD (installed) waiting to install my other 2 terras, that hdd is in my cupboard, just trying to use up the last bits of my rresources first. Actually planning on splitting my extra 2 terra into two 1 terra HDDs and then running a RAID system. That was my original plan, but I ran into complications (ie, being noob).
Have a 2.9ghz (i think) i7 processor, so that operates with 4 dual cores. It's just a shame more software doesn't utalise cores better.
Have 6 gb RAM (DDR3) wasted when my read/write functionality is slow due to large HDDs having slow rpm.
Two monitors (22 and 23 inch) great quality, I got them on sales 1 year apart. The plan was to have identical screens, but couldn't pass over an opportunity to get a larger screen with better specs for cheaper.
Graphics comes off of a nvidia 9500GT with 250 mbs onboard mem.
Also running a tv card that brings me some joy, lovely to have a remote that controls your comp (regardless of iDevice apps).
And - unfortunately - the slowest internet connection known to man 8(

In South Africa we pay heavy import tax and then almost 100% mark ups on the cost of electronics, so I basically got raped. I spent about R13,000 (R = Rand, the currency in South Africa) That , devided by 7 to get a rough translation to Dollars, is about $1850. In the US it prob woulda cost me about $900. But that's life and I love my baby.
If any of you are well versed in cloning drives and initiating RAID, please feel free to educate me. Just wanna be well versed before sacrificing my entire OS to persue it.
Peace out all.  ;D ;D
Oh, and have a mofo massive cooling system - I like that chunk of machinery. Feeling like such a nerd.

LOL, no rep for being an idiot with a sweet piece?
I hope you realise that it was difficult for me to acquire/afford this stuff. So don't feel too bummed that it's wasted on me. lol
